The reason I made this thread is because I have noticed now for about 4 years now intel brought the i7 series, I understand there are 4 generations of it.... but is there such a thing as i8 Core .. Is this something thats coming out in 2015 or later then that ? Also can you imagine how powerful it must be.

Im getting Haswell for sure 6 core 12 thread . next year..

Thats 2013. Is it worth upgrading to a potential i8 Core is it like twice as powerful and fast....???

Has Intel said anything about after Haswell and when a i8 Core or whatever they made it comes out.. thanks

No such thing as i8. Also it would be pure marketing name only. So its a myth.

Haswell on LGA1150 is dual and quadcore. No Haswell-E until late 2014.

Didn't you hear? Once Haswell is released it will be i2, i4, and i8.

Werent you told in the other thread you made that there will be no hanswell 6 (non e version), and yet you make a thread basically saying the same thing?

Tweakboy your posts hurt my brain, you seem to be able to take a pinch of utter rubbish, add a dash of made up nonsense and mix it all together with a couple of random comments in a way I have never before seen.

What is it that you actually want to know bearing in mind that there is no such thing as an I8 and you have already been told there is no mainstream 6c12t haswell chip that has been announced???

He's actually right. Desktop implementations of Gulftown were initially going to be branded Core-i9. In retrospect, it could've helped with Intel's increasingly broken naming convention. The i7-970 was better than the i7-975 in every way, for example.

When has Intel's naming conventions ever made sense... :whiste:

Irrelevant it was never named that, i'm sure intel had 50 or 60 different names for the "I" series of cpus during the design phase the only thing that matters is that they settled on I3 I5 and I7 unless you can show me something published by intel that referes to them by any other name.

Who cares i3, i5, i7, i8, etc? It's just a marketing name. Intel can call their CPUs "i9 XT Ultra Premium!!1" for all I care. The technology underneath is all that matters.

Yep. I do wish they'd use the same naming for mobile and desktop instead of mudding the waters with mobile i5 being more like an i3 etc though.

Companies are always going to use brand recognition to their advantage. The simple fact is that 90% of the market doesn't really know what they're buying.

It can't be i8. Somehow, BMW will sue if it is.

They don't care about i3 as its a lower end model. :D
