Intel Help???

Ok I want to build a pc with a PIII 1266ghz cpu with the 512k l2 cache now i know they coast around 360 or so but will that be really
faster then lets say a much cheaper PIII 1200 with only 256k l2 ??? any help will be nice...thanks

And later if you want to build a dual system you can yank that 1266MHz processor out and get a dualie up. That is the only PIII Tualatin that is SMP capable, and is noticably faster than the 256KB cache versions.

Thanks dude...I use win98se now but later when i goto a os that kicks two cpus i prob build one for the heck of it haha so yeah it be one of
thoes sys that eats up a mnth and a half pay checks but will kick ass.

The Non SMP capable PIII @ 1.2GHz is a very hard sell, since the Celeron is noticably cheaper and is up to par with the PIII. The only thing that made me bought intel was that I knew, down the road, I would be able to get them in SMP, provided I find one with the same stepping. The PIII 1.26GHz with 512KB L2 cache is at a very high premium, but is a powerful solution for someone wanting something in a 1U chasis.
