They are not forcing anyone. And the thread is nothing but rumours.

And can you tell me the Broadwell-E release date? Is it before or after even the rumoured date you got?

Sure, perhaps not forcing, but intentionally increasing the incentives if you prefer that wording.

And my point is that the time distance between HEDT and mainstream desktop is shrinking or reversing, based on the releases dates of Haswell-E vs Broadwell-K, if you compare that to the previous release dates of IvyBridge-E vs Haswell-K. I.e. the HEDT CPUs will now will be released earlier than before.

So you make up some random FUD. To proclaim Intel is forcing everyone to HEDT platform. Despite the HEDT platform launches LATER. Not to mention why people would want to change to the HEDT platform anyway.

You could just as well claim that Intel currently is driving people away from the HEDT platform and releasing latest technology for cheap for the masses instead.

Only 6/8 cores works for gamers right? And it has to be dirt cheap, because thats what gamers are entitled to.

AMD and Intel are both having a max target of 4 cores for a reason for anything not coming from a server variant or custom design.

You're missing the point. All I'm saying is that Intel wants to increase profit by increasing the incentive for people/enthusiasts to buy the HEDT platform, where the margins are higher. They are free to do so, and no one is forced to buy the HEDT CPUs. But it's still an interesting observation.

So in your eyes Devil's Canyon is not an incentive to buy the non HEDT platform?

Force / intentionally increase incentives for consumers/enthusiasts to buy the HEDT CPU to increase Intel's margins, select the wording that suits you. They are just making use of the current lack of competition in the desktop CPU arena.

On the desktop: 4 core i3s, 4 core + HT i5s, 6 core + HT i7s. If AMD's FX line were more successful I'm confident that would be the Intel line up right now. Although, "entitled" is a silly way to view it. It's more about what are we missing out on because of soft competition in desktop x86.

Yes, priced as I listed them. Anyone who says we wouldn't see those prices if AMD's offerings were better doesn't understand a company like Intel's need to maintain marketshare. See Core 2 introduction for what Intel will do when competition is nipping at them.
