Waiting on a GTX 660, I decided to put the Intel HD4000 on a I5-3570K to the test and I came away pretty impressed.

Runs Dota 2 at 1920x1200 with low details around (40fps) and maxed out details at around 30fps.

Bioshock infinite ran at 1280x800 with medium details around 25-35fps.

This thing is darn impressive I gotta say.

Yeah they can handle some games pretty well, my HD733 (bless it) did a pretty good job of Starcraft 2 on low settings and that thing is way below HD4000.

[Stupid, possibly racist, and completely inappropriate and politically incorrect statement removed by mod ]

I put an old game on my PC the other day and i couldnt handle the low resolution textures i couldnt even play it any more.

Next time you pull something like this, you'll be enjoying a long vacation.

Because I cleaned up his garbage, I had to edit your quoted text as well; no biggie. This is not an infraction.

Also, just for future reference, let's try to avoid turning the tech forums into a 4-chan image board.

The proper place for this is in Moderator Discussions, not in the tech forums.

Kim Jong-un would never settle for low resolution hydralisks, they're vital to the war effort.

So i have to post in an anonymous forum to complain about the censoring of my posts.

The irony of this isnt lost on me.

Yes, you do have to post in Mod Discs, and for very good reasons:
1.) Complaining in a tech forum thread causes a derail and is off-topic, such as what you've done here.
2.) Allowing "public" complaints would not only cause derails, it encourages some people to "grand stand" and purposely make a show of it.
3.) Complaining "in secret" can also shield you from fellow members who may be in opposition to you or your views. For example, if the nature of your disagreement with a mod is because "member X was not sanctioned like me", then doing that in public will only result in further personal disagreement with member X.

Therefore, it has been deemed by the establishment that the best way to handle this would be to funnel all requests to Mod Discs.

This should be no surprise. This is in the forum guidelines, which you were expected to have read, understood, and agreed to when you signed up here and started posting. Adherence to such rules is not really up to debate.

If you don't like the rules, or certain parts of it, go to Mod Discs, or go to another forum altogether. There are lots of tech forums around (Ars, Toms, H, etc), some of them may be more suited to you, who knows.

No further posts on this matter please. All further posts of this nature, please post in Mod Discs. This is your last post here that I will indulge

It's slightly more powerful than Geforce 520. See what you say, when you get your hands on that 660 :)

Anyone care to bench BF2 with hd4000 and look for settings that sustain 60fps at any given time?:p

I know hd2000 on my core i5 notebook would do medium 1366x768 and stay well above 70 most of the time with no aa.

If i recall hd2000 on mobile is weaker then the desktop version.

What mobile chips had HD2000? I thought all mobile i3/5/7 chips came with HD3000 or HD4000.

lol i had to google the model to actually double check and your right,i was under the impression that only the i7 chips and the unlocked chips only sported hd3000 or higher.

Notebook was my wifes and she only facebooked on it,hell it could have had mobile highend graphics and it wouldn't have mattered at all.

Hahahaha, I laughed out loud on this one.

I played SC2 on my HD4000, and at 1080p with high textures and low shaders, it ran pretty darn well. Definitely very playable.

(I'm very, very, VERY surprised that Jedi Knight 2 actually runs on my HD4000, whereas it doesn't on my 5850!)

it's impressive considering how bad Intel IGPs used to be (like the GMA 950),
but you can get the same level of performance with some pretty basic cards...
even an 8800GT is MUCH faster.

The HD4000 seemed alright on my Zenbook. I had to run Torchlight II at 720p with I think low/medium settings to ensure playability. I had to do about the same with my i3-3225-based HTPC when I tried to play Sonic Generations... it definitely didn't have enough blast processing to handle 1080p!! :p

Is there a difference in the desktop IGP and the mobile IGP? I was under the assumption that the desktop IGP HD4000 was more powerful than the mobile HD4000. Is this wrong?

I was running DOTA 2 on a Laptop i5-430M with a ATI 5830M and it was only doing 20 fps at 1080P. Sometimes it dipped to 10-15fps. It couldn't even handle Medium settings on Bioshock without becoming a slideshow.

Does that mean a desktop HD4000 is more powerful than an ATI 5830M (I don't think these games were that CPU intensive)?

HD4000 seems to be able to play new games alright on lower settings, but does really bad at old games that should be far less intensive.

I used HD 2000 to play Half-Life 2 and Torchlight 1 at 10x7 on my i3 mini-ITX music jukebox PC while my GTX 560 was off being RMA'd, it worked well for both.

People still think of older intel IGPs which were useless for 3D, but the HD series is surprisingly decent.

Older games require certain optimizations and what not, something that Intel drivers do not have. Also, it blue screens a lot on older operaring systems like Windows XP. Intel HD is best to be used on newer OS'es running modern software.

Yeah when my GTX460 was down for the count a few months back, I had to use the HD4000 to play BL2 with the wifey. Dropped res to 720p and details to low, and actually managed about 30-40fps. Not terribly fluid, but I was impressed I could still game.
