Intel HD 610/630 vs Geforce GTS 450

Hi all, I am building a new rig and I'm wondering if I should keep my Geforce GTS 450 from my old rig or use the new Intel HD 610/630 from my new CPU G4560/G4600. I only do casual gaming like CS:GO and movie playback. My concern is some people said that the x265 hardware encoding lies in the iGPU and if I re-use my old Geforce GTS 450, would a G4560 still do x265 hardware encoding? Thanks in advance. ^^

I don't know about hardware encoding but in terms of gaming, GTS450 is a bit more powerful than HD630.
Although HD 630 should easily play low end games like CSGO.
Intel had a good opportunity to make their igpu powerful but they can't even beat a $130 gpu from 6 years ago.

Well, we only hear about GT2 as it's the most common desktop Intel igp. There are GT3e and GT4e igps, both of which are much faster.

The latest Intel IGPs are more capable in other areas than a GTS450. Most notably in that the Intel IGPs are DX12 (FL_1).

They need to make faster igpu which go into mainstream cpu like i3 and i5.
By kaby Lake it should have been at gtx 750 level but we won't be seeing that until 2020 atleast. Hopefully ryzen apu will be fast enough.

1080p/264 to 1080p/265 ~50FPS
with handbrake

with QSVenc (command line tool) it uses almost no cpu to boot.

Yes you can keep using the igpu alongside the 450 you just have to tell your bios to keep you igpu enabled instead of auto which disables it if there is a dgpu,if you don't have the igpu connected to a real monitor you will have to make a virtual display from windows display settings.

You will also need dual channel memory clocked as high as possible,I have it on single channel and it's slow as heck in gaming.

What would the TDP of such a KL socket 1151 chip have been? We are already at 91W with HD630.

We have already seen the throttling problems of AMD apus when the graphics chip and the cpu are stressed at the same time.

If we look at Skylake, it appears that HD530 added ~15W to the TDP figure. That's a rough estimate from comparing Xeon processors without igp to Desktop processors at similar frequencies.

EDIT: Just wrong.

I would think the GTS 450 is better, but the 3dmark11 scores I managed to find looked fairly close at around 1700-1800 points for both the 630 and the GTS 450

Even worse, they are faring worse than the mobile Adreno 530(!), and with Qualcomm on mobiles, things will get worse on the Blue team.

Thanks for the responses, guys! I think I will use Intel HD610 iGPU found in G4560 and try to sell my GTS450 later because I will be playing back movies more than gaming. Next question is if I should use stock Intel cooler or upgrade to a bigger heatsink if I use both the CPU and iGPU? I have had 5-6 rigs now and I never use stock cooler.

Edit: I'm currently using Scythe Kabuto in my old rig. To anyone who is familiar with that cooler, will it fit socket LGA1151?
