You order OEM chips without coolers and limited 30-90days warranty? Not to mention how hard OEM aka tray chips is to find in the channel.

I used to do it that way, but they are getting tougher to find now. I vaguely remember getting 1 year warranties on those chips as well.

I don't really care what the box looks like. I care about what comes in the box and how well that will work. If the Haswell CPU works well the box is getting tossed/recycled.

Microcenter deal probably won't happen until a few months after launch.

I would expect the motherboards to be expensive as well.

Personally, I would just go with a 3570k. The possible small inprovements in Haswell dont seen worth it to me until the prices settle down.

Still kicking myself that I didnt get to Microcenter for the 169.00 deal last weekend.

I'm just anxious to see some reviews and find out the OC headroom. If temps are improved over Ivy, then Haswell can be a worthwhile jump from Sandy.

The question will be i7-4770K or i5-4670K...and whether 2MB of cache and 4 virtual cores are worth $100.

Did anyone notice that Intel's changing the logos for the Core chips? An image of the new version can be seen from the Iris presentation earlier this week...

That same logo can be seen next to the large "Z87X-UD3H" logotype on that leaked image of said model's box art from Chip Hell...

So what's the realistic amount of time before I see these in a Lenovo T series and a Surface Pro 2?

Nextgen Surfaces comes in June. If its Haswell or not is another question. But Intel is the supplier for the x86 version and nVidia for the ARM.

But T series Lenovo you gotta wait long time on. They tend to be 6-9 months after for some reason.

Microcenter will probably be $190, as it is with the i5 3570k and will probably be $50 off select mobos, as it is with the 3570k.
