Linus last week, was pimping what a great deal the B580 bundle was. He seems as frustrated as most DIYers are at how strong the Nvidia kool aid is.

At this point if someone buys 8GB on Desktop they kind of did that to themselves.
On Laptop there ain't any alternative Strix Halo is too damm expensive and very few laptop.

This isn't about vram, it's about branding. Go to the 4 minute mark in that video, it is where he hits the rant. Calls Nvidia buyers sheep.

He is scummy (or was) but that was a nice rant.
Linus is a narcissistic douche IMO. But I endeavor not to allow my amygdala to cloud my judgement. No matter how much I want to liver kick someone, if they are "spitting facts" I begrudgingly agree with them. Would that more people possessed the capacity...

Nvidia is on Apple's level now, they can do whatever they want. Intel's best hope is probably gone. That hope was winning on value. But with Tan's demand that everything have a 50% gross margin was it? Good luck with that.

While I don't agree with his 50% gross margin. I agree with couple of things like discussing with him before chip tape out and making stuff that actually customer wants want.
Intel changes roadmaps on a whim they need to stop jumping around they don't have the money they used to have.

Intel has the Biden chips act money. Intel should not worry about how much their GPU's are costing. The chips act covers those costs. Do not forget about the cost of entering a new market. Is it safe to assume Celestial will be manufactured on 18A?

Nova Lake iGPU aka Xe3P is on 18AP including the 4/12 Xe3P Tile. dGPU as well if they will not cancel them or change it also they got pennies in the name of Chips Act.

Don't worry folks. They will save their fabs with 14nm chips!

They just need to put an NPU on them that can generate the virtual girlfriend every teenager's heart desires!

Keep in mind that a good kick to the liver actually enhances one's ability to spit. Involuntarily. Bile may be involved.

Yeah but wasn't that money supposed to be for IFS . . .?

2.2 Billion $ is like 10% of a modern leading edge fab lol

That may be true, but it at least helps pay salary for the people working on 18A/18AP and 14A. It keeps the lights on. Or it gets laundered to other divisions of the company that are also struggling.

It barely helps with the investment Intel made they got it over like 6 months and after doing so much.
Intel is at fault as well for spending too much without return I never liked Europe Expansion.

18AP would need to be ready a year after 18A. Is that the plan, for 18AP to be ready for high volume manufacturing a year from now?

Yes and '+' node have been easy to do take a look at all the plus in Skylake they got to 5.1 GHz with 14nm+++++ with the same architecture lmao.
10nmSF to Intel 7 or Intel 4 to Intel 3 and by the time of '+' the yield matures enough to do big dies as well.

You are oversimplifying things in the current era though. It's harder and harder to hit their targets the smaller the process gets. And it gets even harder for Intel to do that because they have to pay higher wage workers and not work them to the bone, unlike TSMC. What works in TSMC's favor even more is that their workers consider it a mark of pride to work long hours. Intel really needed their fabs to be in multiple geographic regions so they could take advantage of the strength of the dollar's value. Someone making $1000 in Thailand may be a lot happier than someone making $4000 in the US.

It's a plus node I am not talking about new nodes it's easier to improve upon existing design than to use new ones.

If Intel is going to be buying NVidia chiplet for certain percentage of its line up, why not the entire line up?
Cause neither of the company wants to give total control of their market to each other
