Hi guys,
My 150 GB Raptor X is almost full, and to make a long story short, I'm planning on grabbing a SSD for the speed boost, swapping the Raptor into a spare computer, and swapping the spare computer's WD 640 GB Black into my main computer to install my games on, and for backup storage (I already have a WD 640 GB Blue for storage).
I'm using Vista x64 right now, and I plan to buy Windows 7 sometime in the future. It could be a while before I pick it up, though. I also may end up buying a newer SSD and using the one from this purchase in a laptop with Vista x86 if SSD prices come down significantly in the future.
TRIM / garbage collection, ease of use, and capacity are my main concerns. I could probably get away with a 60-80 GB main drive, but I'd feel more comfortable with a 120 or 160 GB drive (unless I can install applications like Word, Photoshop, etc. on a secondary drive... is that possible?). I heard the Intel drives are only supporting TRIM on Windows 7, and that'll be their only form of garbage collection. If I plan to hang on to Vista for another year, should I steer clear?
What's my best bet, and what are the cons compared to its competitors?
Thanks.
