What about us P4-EE owners? We don't count?

sure why not. what exactly did you use it for - back in the days?

launched in 2004
single core with 2MB cache.
sounds like a half celeron given today's standard.

I plan to go 6 core next gen as it's been made a bit cheaper with the 5820k. If it comes down to mainstream then I guess it won't count as an EE CPU but that doesn't matter. 😛
I plan to use it for rendering and multithreaded gaming. Blender and Chunky for rendering, beamng.drive and future games on the gaming side. Also F@H/bionic crunching.

Got it for free. Use it mainly for benchmarking purposes. I have objective evidence that it's slow.

i have a core i7 965. It's a quad core, so core count is mainstream by today's standards. Back then, you needed an extreme edition for unlocked multiplier too.

Considering it is 2015 though, I would think it's easier to list applications that are single threaded and don't benefit from these models. I feel like your the options nowadays are to have applications either run on the gpu or be multithreaded for the cpu or have dedicated hardware.
