My step son bought this computer in Dec. He could never get it to work. He gave it to me for Xmas and said good luck hope you can to work. Here is a list of the computer.

Intel p4 SL9CA 3.06 Ghz.
Intel DP35DP LGA775 Motherboard
2- Corsair CM2X1024 DDR2-6400 800mhz
1-Geforce 8400 GS DDR2 256MB PCIe Card
1-Sony 52X/32X/52X/15X DVD Rom Drive
1-Western Digital WD1600JS HDD
Coolermaster ATX 12V RSS-430-PMSR
the case is a Dynex model DX500cc the psu that came with the case he replaced it . He had it tested and was told it was only putting out 300 watts. It was a Apex Allied 500W PSU

I have tried but the computer will not post. I have taken out the VC and the memory and It doesn't make any beeps .I have tried removeing the battery, set the bios jumper to configure. No change no beeps, no post. I have pulled everything out several times and reseated them. I even removed the mobo and put it on cardbord and powered it up no change in anything. I have checked all of the voltage on each wires and it was okay.

Could it be that the PSU doesn't have enough watts to get this computer to post or could the mobo ?

Thank you very much for your help!

I don't think this processor is compatible with your motherboard. You'll need at least a Core 2-based Celeron processor.

I have the same motherboard and I use Core 2 Duo E4500 (2.2GHz).

even if the CPU and motherboard are socket 775 based ? thanks bluemist I went out to the intel site and found about the it is 64 bit and the mobo is 32 bit. (This is wrong the mobo is 64 bit and doesn't support that SL9CA CPU).
Great catch 🙂
Thanks So Much for your help!!
I will pass that along to my stepson

Okay new question. If the intel DP35DP is 64 bit then can I install XP Pro 32 bit software on this board. I also see that the core 2 duo E4500 is 64 bit. Or would I have to buy XP PRO 64 Bit software. Or should I ask which CPU / Mobo upgrade will let me use my XP Pro software.
Thanks Again for Your Time!
