Because they had Bay Trail to showcase and furthermore Broadwell is coming H2 2014 and Haswell just launched 3 months ago. No surprise really.

Well at last year's IDF Ivy Bridge had just launched 4.5 months ago. Should 4.5-3=1.5 months difference really matter?

That's not true. IDF fall 2012 had Haswell sessions.

Not the information he asked for. Its clearly IDF13 as you can see:

Correct. All the Haswell information came at IDF in april. Not september 2012. In september 2012 there was only this basicly:

More or less the same information we get now with Broadwell.

So in April 2014 there should be extensive information in terms of slides and pcitures.

This info on Haswell was presented on September 11 at IDF 2012:

Quite a lot more details compared to what I've seen for Broadwell so far at IDF 2013.

Ivy Bridge was planned earlier a month or two and also they had nothing big to showcase beside Ivy Bridge.

Once again, Haswell uarch infos including your slide had been revealed at IDF 2012 September in San Francisco. Intel just repeated it in 2013.

Well in any case the actual IB launch was known well in advance before IDF in September 2012 and they just have to adapt to that. That IDF was still held only 4.5 months after IB launch regardless. In addition, Haswell was also planned to launch earlier than June according to some for that matter.

Ok, so at least we know for a fact that there were not much details on Broadwell at the IDF in September 2013. So when can we expect those details to be presented by Intel? At the next IDF which I believe is in April 2014? In that case isn't it kind of late? 7 months from now...!

It was known but Intel delayed it a month or two as I said.

Spring 2014 IDF maybe. I don't know why it is late when Broadwell comes somewhere in H2. They don't have to give infos to the public prior to the launch. We are lucky that Intel gives us such a good inside into upcoming generations usually. This year Intel focused on Bay Trail.

I guess it depends on when in 2014 H2 Broadwell will be launched. July or December makes a big difference.

Haswell was launched in June 2013, that was only 1 month from H2.

And of course Intel does not have to provide any info to the public in advance. It's just that they usually have in the past.

If Broadwell will be launched early H2 and details are not revealed until April the same year I think that's late compared to for previous CPU releases.
