I posted this in the Anand Tech memory forum as well.

I just received a G.Skill 4GB DDR2-1000 Kit based upon a hot deal posted on Anand Tech.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231145

My motherboard is the Intel D975XBX2 (Bad Axe 2)

http://support.intel.com/suppo...ards/desktop/d975xbx2/

I am running an E6600 stock for video editing on the board which currently has four 1GB DDR2 667 modules from Super Talent. I left the timings at whatever the bios setup used.

Since this ram I just bought involves removng the four Super Talent sticks and putting two of these in their place how should I set the bios?

I think the board only takes DDR2-800 maximum, but can't I use these at 800 somehow?

Thanks for the help.

What do you mean that you can't use the memory @800MHz? It doesn't boot if you set it @800 manually?

Actually what I asked was:

"I think the board only takes DDR2-800 maximum, but can't I use these at 800 somehow?"

So do I use the memory override in the bios to set it to 800MHz? If the board can only take up to 800MHz memory what will happen when I stick these in. Will the bios crash or default to 800MHz?

you can always overclock to get the memory to DDR2-1000.
they just released a bios update for the quad core 45nm procs so that you can do 1333 MHz FSB

For the Intel D975XBX2 ?

I think it only takes 65nm processors with a FSB of 1066. Correct me if I am wrong on that.

That is correct (65nm only) as far as official support, even though there are rumors of some people running 45nm processors with limited success. I keep running tabs on this thread at XS since there are still people posting occasionally. Link The last page linked to shows the latest bios update as 2831.
