Does anyone know anything about this motherboard? It is Intel's 815E motherboard.. It doesn't have RAID support, and it costs about 190$.
Does Intel tend to make good boards? It has a 3-year warentee, and they've always been known (atleast to me) to honor these.
My other option's right now are the Abit SAR6, and the Asus CUSL2. But the Intel and the Asus don't have RAID.
Wich brings me to another question. What is this RAID stuff? The only RAID I've ever used would be the old stuff, were you had to buy expensive drives wich were about 1grand per gb.

Ok, well in my opinion, Intel used to make good motherboards, such as the BX series motherboards.. were great quality though if you wanted to overclock, you'd have to choose another manufacturer. Though now... I've noticed that Intel doesn't make boards as good as they used to... we all heard of the CC820 MTH issue ;)
As for the Intel 815E motherboard, from it's specs it seems ok, though I haven't had any experience with it, though as for the Asus CUSL2, it's a great board, rock solid, though there have been issues with the BIOS flashing...etc... otherwise it's a great board.

And to answer your question about RAID, it can be with most any HD, and it allows to do multiple things, such as turn 2 15GB HDs into 1 30GB HD, as seen by the system. RAID also allows for security precautions, such as writing the same data twice onto 2 seperate HDs, so if one crashes you have the other. I personally wouldn't recommend the motherboard with onboard RAID controllers, as I've seen many issues with, if you are really looking into RAID, then I suggest a Promise FastTrak RAID Controller. Otherwise, it's your choice about the moterboard, hope this info helps.

Intel makes motherboards with a LOT less BIOS options as they don't tend to cater to the same market as say ASUS or ABIT and all their awesome FSB speeds and tweaks. I wouldn't buy an Intel Motherboard again. I'd stick with ASUS probably.

You might want to take note that the Intel Easton D815EEA is completely autodetect and has no options for overclocking at all. So if you plan to overclock, go with another board.

It's a very very stable board......works very well, but no tweaks at all.
