The guy is obviously clueless, if you want to believe he got it to 4.2ghz on air, feel free.

I did not say that I believed he achieved it on air! That?s why I put it to this Forum to get other's points of view backed up by facts. I was hopping for a more technical explanation as to why it?s impossible to do it on air with a Zalman (CNPS9500-LE) Cross Platform Cooling Fan and 4x120mm fans and 2x92mm fans, rather than a one-dimensional (The guy is obviously clueless, if you want to believe he got it to 4.2ghz on air, feel free) answer from such a senior member.

Maaybe he did briefly......before his system shut down..

I cannot speak for this gentlemans dual core....

But I can speak for my 3.2 EE CPU.
I have achieved a stable 4.4 over clock on air for over 48 hrs.
I was uncomfortable with that so i dropped it to 4.2 where I kept it for several weeks.
All the while gaming and doing what I normally do(no porn btw..lol)
Then I dropped it to 3.8 where I have been running for well over a year with no hicccups or stutters or blue screens..etc.

I am not sure that 4.2 is even possible using a dual core.
Correct me if I am wrong but both cares would need to be o/c`d to 4.2!!

Have a nice day!!

You are correct, both cores would have to be stable at 4.2ghz. While it is definatly possible, it's not gonna be common, or easy to cool. I was able to post at 4ghz, but I think the PSU is my limiter, 450W Antec Smartpower.

What's the point of this thread? That some guy can lie on Ebay?

Q: Hi what temp was the cpu at idle and under load please ?
15-May-06
A: Mid 50's when I was running Prime95. But I have 4x120mm fans and 2x92mm fans in my case as well, airflow is important. (case was a Thermaltake Armor)

WTF? Mid 50's @ 4.2GHz? On air?? I don't care if you have 10 120mm fans. LMAO!

That's interesting
I had my 3.2 running at 5.8 for a couple of weeks ,System showed no errors and was stable...CPU temp reached 55c at full load .. when I had multiple tasks running,,Azureus,Encoding a DVD while playing NFS.

Anyway that is on water and I dropped down to a more sensible 4.2 where I have been for the last 3 months.
5.8was extremely fast but a bit unnatural and was concerned about popping the CPU or something.
I recorded these results if you guys doubt this.

Sure, post some pics @ 5.8 GHz (I'm assuming 2.9*2). Some people will like it, even though it isn't a very fast OC.

While you're at it, post some screens of dual prime running for 24 hours (I myself test any OC for at least 48 hours straight though).

If a system can't run 24/7 with 100% CPU load, it's usless.

I'd like to see the proof, none the less, a single core at 5.8 is more believable than 8xx dual core hitting 4.2ghz on air with 50c load temps.

i was thinking this as reading through the thread.

if the seller doesn't even know what dual core means, do you really expect him to know how to overclock? and overclock to that speed on air when forums have had a hard time reaching 4.1 with water?

if you ask me, i think he took the screen shots of a site that did its on overclocking and posted the results (water cooled results, that is).

It's easy to have your CUP-Z results verified. I did almost 1 year ago, check sig (proud to say it's my longest lasting CPU/MB in years). :)

Funny, most benchmark programs say 'don't trust screen shots' There has to be some reason for that...

5.8ghz? jeez how much is it sucking from the wall. all i know is the farther you oc the most power is lost to leakage and other stuff, it gets pretty high. got a kill-a watts or something meter?

4.2 on air is stock... because he's doing retard math...
by this logic my duel xp 2400+ means i'm at 4800+.. on air, less than 40c !

The item is not mine and if you were a bit more meticulous in your viewing you wound have picked up that the auction has ended on the 17 May.

If you were a little more meticulous in your searching, you'd have found that 805D overclocking has been beaten to death around here, and maybe even have stumbled into the CPU/Processing forum. :p

BTW, AXP @ 6GHz

CHOP FTW?

WOW D805 @ 4.3Ghz on air 5.3Ghz on dry ice!!

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=92149

I have no interest in what the people over at Xtreme Stupidity do.

Throw up some CPU-Z verified screen shots @ 4.3GHz submitted by "Mr Vain".

Edit: by your math, my CPU is running @ 5.6GHz.

Some AMD guys are hard believers not easy to convince, need verified proof probably need to witness in person with their own eyes. Maybe touch it.

Actually, I'm not an AMD fan, or an Intel fan... I'm a performance fan. I can tell you that in the last ten years, I've used more Intel based systems, then AMD based ones. I'll also most definitely end up going back to Intel once Conroe/Merom is released.

Anyway, where's your CPU-Z verified linky?

My D 805 is still boxed awaiting a Conroe (official) compatible Motherboard, maybe you could suggest one, before I post CPU-Z VERIFIED linky to make you happy.
