Two problems with that article...

  • From the original timeframe in Q2 2003 Intel postponed the release on highly-acclaimed Prescott processor to Q4 2003...
That's simply untrue. As I posted in another thread...
    This AnandTech article, dated 03/12/02
Just two weeks ago Intel officially introduced the successor to the Pentium 4 under the codename Prescott. To be released in the second half of 2003, Prescott will be Intel's first 0.09-micron (90nm) CPU that will feature the following...
And then here is the official press release announcing Prescott, dated 02/27/02:
This platform is based on a processor with the code name Prescott. Prescott will be shipping in the second half of next year...
  • Based on the objections mentioned herein and according to unofficial sources, I believe that Intel will launch the Tejas processor in mass-quantities only in early 2005, but not in late 2004, as previously reported.
So, this isn't an ACTUAL roadmap change... Just this guys prediction for next year.

To date, I have been underwhelmed by the content contained in some xbitlabs articles.

There are some significant technical mistakes in the article above regarding electromigration and gate oxide breakdown. As far as the rest of it... I honestly don't know if it's true or not.

I knew John from emails and ICQ chats before he joined Intel. But we have never met face to face. I consider him to be a friend despite the fact that I haven't met him in person. I knew Sohcan from before he joined Intel as well and I helped convince him to apply to Intel for an internship. He's in my gorup at work now and I see him pretty often.

I haven't met anyone else from Intel that posts here regularly.

NFS4...I think you need to change the title to say Xbitlabs opinoin, or basically be careful how you jump at the conclusions of the article.

<Based on the objections mentioned herein and according to unofficial sources> Sounds a lot like rumor, speculation, and something I would expect from the enquirer...

... and a number of phone conversations. Other than that, we live and work about 1000 miles apart. :)
