Something to ponder... I was just looking at that MSI Bling Bang motherboard pictured in the original post. The PCI-E auxiliary power connector is located to the left of the PCI-E slots. How is someone supposed to run 4-way or 3-way SLI with that connector plugged in? You're going to need it for such a configuration, but I don't see how the cards could fit with it in the way.

I will buy it, I work at wal-mart, single, have own house, zero debt minus a measly $300 morgage. ALready got one GTX 580. Waiting on reviews, etc to buy mobo/cpu/ram.

CHA CHING BITCHES. 😛

So you're going to spend 3X your mortgage payment on a CPU? Doesn't sound a little crazy to you?

If I only had a $300 mortgage, I would be able to spend a lot more than I do now on computers 🙂

My mortgage is in the 1600 range and my yearly computer budget is twice that. (I do not actually reach that budget every year)

right angle PCIe connector?

Why would it? Its simple math really, i make more than i spend. Which is more than most people do, most people in the US live paycheck to paycheck. I don't.

I never understood why people always say its stupid or whatever to buy something. How is it stupid if you can afford it?

I assume that is $300K morgage? I would not have called that measly, but then depends on the area. I have 150K and while the rest is similar, it is still a sit and think (ie: wait for IB instead or wait for better boards). Ofcourse, looking at the $600 cpu, $300 MB, 240GB SSD, possibly new case and new power supply, so expecting a $2K outlay to replace something that still works fine.

That being said, a friend had saved for a s1366 and was going to buy one next week. Timing could not have been better (they had waiting for stuff) in talking them up to a s2011 instead.

Hell no, why would i buy a expensive house for? Just a average house, 1500sq/ft , medium range around here is $120k. I built mine so its actually considerably cheaper since I paid for most materials out of paychecks while i lived with parents for 4+ years and had zero bills = SMART. 😀

What can I do now because of that, Just last month i bought a 750watt seasonic PS, and was like "Psshh i want 2 GTX 580 instead!" so ordered 1050watt one and put the "old" 750 on ebay cause thats how i roll. 😛

That's about what my house is, although my monthly mortgage payment isn't that small. Allows for plenty left over for savings and regular computer upgrades.

Soo wait, did Intel officially launch these to consumers ? How much are they ?

On embargo until 11/14 - then they will be available. Most disties have stock, can't sell until embargo lifts

Approximate pricing:
Core i7 3930K 12MB $579.00
Core i7 3960X 15MB $1039.00

In regards to the 40 lanes providing 16x,16x,8x in Tri SLI....

Remember, that's pcie 3.0 at 8GT/sec natively, not 5GT/sec in 2.0, so that's more like 25.6x, 25.6x, 12.8x in pcie 2.0 terms, theoretically. Even 8x 3.0 is more like 16x 2.0.

In other words, there is not a card out now that would be bottle-necked, even if ran in quad sli.

I thought SB-E dropped PCIe 3 and we had to wait for IB.
