Wow, great deal! May be last gen, but I actually prefer my Z77s over Z87... Definitely a much much better deal than a new Pentium!

I actually feel like this is where they should be priced, the Celerons/Pentiums taking up at $60, i3 around $100, and lower/non k i5 starting around the $150 range. It's stupid that everything is clustered at $200, why get an i3 when $10 more gets you a 4670k?

$90 though is a fair price for an i3.

Celerons need to remain sub $50, the new Haswells are overpriced.

Pentiums should not be more than $20 more than the Celerons.

i3s should be under $100.

Locked i5s should start at $150.

But then again if all of the above were true, Intel would have no competition in any of the price brackets. It already has very little competition, so until AMD starts making some moves and progress in CPU performance, Intel can keep doing what they have been doing.

Tempted to grab this for a light portable gaming rig along with a GTX 750 Ti, my current rig is going to be too heavy to move around pretty soon...

Said in stock when I ordered. Got it to set aside for a future NAS/Plex server

I just got a cancellation notice due to incorrect pricing. If you click on the link in the OPs post it says in stock at the same price of $84.97.

EDIT:Looks like it just went OOS........

Anyone else getting the run around from TG on this cpu?

That's super lame... I remember when they had a price screw up with the 7950s... I went and purchased mine from Amazon (shipped and fulfilled by TD) and they had to honor that price and ship it out to me no questions asked.

its hard for me to buy a higher end dual core cpu... why would get this instead of spending little more for something WAY better? idk.. i know i put together a budget build to give away with 20$ G1610.. or maybe it was less than 20 i forget.. seemed like 40$ got me 4gb stick ram and the cpu.. 2.6ghz dual core vs 3.5ghz dual core but 4x the price..

Firstly pretty scumbag of TD to go back on already placed orders and say sorry that's not the right price. You advertise it at a set price you sell it at that, you made a mistake well fix it ASAP and accept the few sales at a loss.

As for why buy an i3 vs a Celeron dual core? Firstly in single threaded performance the i3 can be quite a bit faster, and with the hyperthreading it has it can outpace the Celeron by a huge amount. Do you need an i3 for a websurfing or super super budget machine? Of course not. Does it destroy a Celeron (which btw is about $50 new currently) for any cpu intensive tasks and even work well in gaming machines? Yes, and that is why people would get an i3 over a Celeron dual core.

Don't get me wrong, they have their place and are great for parents/grandparents that only intend to websurf and watch movies or Facebook. But for more budget oriented gaming rigs, people who like to do a bit of hobbyist video editing, small software projects the performance different more than justifies the cost difference.
