Intel Core 2 E6300 & ECS P4M800pro-M V2 Mobo $179.99

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 OEM & ECS P4M800pro-M V2 Motherboard for $179.99 at Fry's B&M, I don't know if this is available online as of yet. Motherboard has AGP8x and is compatible with DDR400 or DDR2 533. This looks like an update to the one deal they had with an incompatible E4300 that had to have the mobo flashed to update the BIOS. This is in the Los Angeles Times paper.

Price is creeping up. First it was $139 or $149 then $169 and now $179. These cooler procs are HOT!

Prices have been creeping up. I guess the intro of E4300 at the lower price point forced the E6300 up to distinguish the clock speed

well it was $149 for the oem 4300 and board. $179 for a 6300 and board is fair.

and seeing as the 4300 wasnt even compatible without a BIOS flash I'd say this is a good deal for $30 more

I've been using this combo since October '06. Its a good transition to multiple cores if you're still running AGP and if you have DDR1 RAM that you don't want to dump yet.

No support for Dual Channel and is limited to 2 Gigs of either DDR1 or DDR2. I haven't tried overclocking it and I would strongly advise against it. A good number of these ECS boards are DOA or die within a few months as you will see about 20% of this particular board are "open items" at Frys. The sales person there said that if you can make through the first few months with the board, it shouldn't have any problems in the long run.

Either way, its a hot deal as most places sell the E6300 OEM for just a tad bit less. I'd say hold off a couple of weeks as Fry's will undoubtedly have the same combo, but retail E6300 for the same price or even cheaper.

Sweet, maybe I'll do that. I'm looking for an ultra quiet HSF; what are you using?

I've gone for a totally quiet setup undervolting all of my vans to 5v-7v.

I opted for the Scythe Ninja so I could go for either passive cooling (100% silent) or 5v undervolted 12cm fan (virtually silent from 8" away) or full speed 12cm for great cooling during overclocking (still relatively silent).

If you're a real silent PC enthusiast, opt for either Nexus 12cm fans (one of the best rated silent fans for undervolting and performance, but pretty expensive). Or you can do what I did and opt for the Yate Loon 12cm Fans (they are essentially the same fan as the Nexus, just generic and not undervolted like the Nexus). These two fans are virtually dead silent when undervolted. I opted for the Yate Loons because they're about 1/4 the cost of the Nexus.

To undervolt your fans, you can either hardwire them, but thats a pain in the butt, especially if you're not really good with soldering. I dropped $10 for this undervolting module Cooler Master Aerogate III which can control up to 4 fans. It feeds you temperature in 4 different locations in your case such as CPU, VGA, Hard DRive, as well as RPM. You can range your undervolt from 5v to 12v reducing your fan speed (and consequently, fan noise). Pretty much makes every fan in your case silent.

Fry is selling retail boxed E6300 for $179 w/ free shipping.

When will E4300 ($174.99 shipped) learn to lower pricing?!
