Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 $224?

Lets see...AT article..Value thru overclocking says...$224 for the Intel Core 2 Duo E6400..but Newegg says...$299. Lets see...thats about 33% I believe in what appears to be a typical introductory gouge! I buy a lot from Newegg...this is dissapointing if infact the AT article refered to in this post got the straight skinny on Intel pricing. BTW...Zipzoom is only $254. Come on Newegg!

We've been talking about this for days. Newegg doesn't seem to care, and neither do half of the regulars here, as crazy as that sounds. So, I guess you and I will just have to hold it against newegg, since not many people here seem to care.:roll:

Strange..I never saw this dead horse at the roadside. I read the article, checked Neweggs prices and ZZF prices...I posted an observation..and the problem is?...that I havent read thru the thousands of posts on AT?

You may well be right, however it just doesn't seem to read that way. In fact in the AT article Value thru Overclocking ..this is a quote.."but the fact of the matter is that the cheapest 4MB Core 2 Duo is $316 while you can have the E6300 and E6400 for $183 and $224 respectively". This just doesnt sound like a vendor wholesale cost statement.

It's just the economics of supply and demand. Moaning and groaning doesn't help. Ordering from the cheapest place will help. Where did you order from? And how much did you pay. If you say you haven't ordered then you're part of the problem and this thread won't fix that.

I have found newegg's prices to be higher on many things lately. I now buy less than half my stuff there (in this last upgrade on Friday I only bought a stick of memory), compared to buying 100% from them in the past.

I tend to agree with you. I have bought several thousand $'s worth of stuff from Newegg over the last few years and it does seem that as of late they have not been as competitive in there pricing as they have in the past. I suppose my rant here is probably more focused with my irritation with newegg as of late than really with the issue of there pricing on this single product.

ZipZoomFly is a great company to deal with, and generally has good prices and good shipping rates. But yes, their web site could use considerable improvement. NewEgg has them soundly beat there!

ZZF has VERY POOR site layout and organization. They also have crappy product documentation (AFAIK, no one beats Neweggs on product pics).

To the OP: Core2 will be priced above "market" until probably the end of the month.

Then focus your rant at the cause of your irritation by complaining to newegg, or buy from another reputable place with better prices. Do we need another thread about it here?

NewEgg never has the best prices on newer or higher end processors. Their prices are great for lower end and budget cpu's, like mine. I still buy just aboiut everything from NewEgg, since I rarely buy the latest products.

I've ordered from ZZF a few times, but their web site simply turns me off too much. It's crap compared to NewEgg.

I wanted to buy the P5B Deluxe+E6400 and headed to Newegg, but I found that Mwave had it for cheaper, even after shipping. Let's hope I don't regret it

Well I just ordered my entire new Conroe E6400 system from them, this being my first experience with newegg. The order should be coming in tomorrow, so we'll see how my experience with them goes. Never bought from zipzoomfly so i cannot comment on how they are compared to newegg. Although i will concur that no one beats newegg in terms of providing quality pictures of the products. Newegg's site is simply the best, far better than zzf's.

Cheapest I found it today (8-17-06) was at ZZF for $247. Retail box. The prices vary from day to day. Its slowly coming down though.

I got my e6400 for $248 shipped from monarchcomputer.com. Got it this past Monday after ordering it the prior Tuesday. I love my Conroe!
