Great combo...I happen to own. Best bang for the buck since Roxann Dawson (just before she got famous).

Well, here's a question. I want to upgrade but it is sort of pointless as I won't have any time for serious gaming until winter break. Should I snatch this now and keep it in a safe place or just wait till winter break and potentially lower prices?

its not THAT hot a deal, so i would say you could probably wait and it wouldnt hurt you too bad.

I would wait. There is a good chance that Black Friday will bring some better deals.

I'm building a new system & am torn between this processor for $99 and an e2160 w/M0 steppings for $76 shipped...would there be much performance difference between the 2?

Difference is the cache size, the multiplier for OC. Both are the best buys. I would prefer the 4500.

Well, my confirmation email said the order will ship on 11/11 unless they cancel it or something. Good thing I'm not in a hurry for it.

Will the cache size of the 4500 make it $24 more noticeable...even if both would be overclocked to 3Ghz (a safe overclock for both)?

I'm in your position, Wait. I'm getting my setup either during black Friday or some Christmas deal that should pop up in Dec.

I'm probably going to wait until Black Friday for a CPU deal as well, though an M0 E4500 is tempting (I caught the overclock bug after taking my L2 E2140 to 2.8GHz)

Anyone have a copy of the 20 dollar rebate PDF from the recent deal on this motherboard at Newegg? Can't seem to find it...thought I already downloaded it. If so, PM me please. Thanx!

Once you get to 3Ghz+ the cache size becomes less noticeable. You will see the difference in benchmarks (and usually video/audio encoding/decoding) but you will not "feel" it for gaming or everyday use.

I have an e6600(4MB cache) at 3.6Ghz and a e2160(1MB cache) at 3.2Ghz and day to day use, i really can't tell the difference. Gaming is maybe a couple FPS better, nothing to really get excited about. I would say go for the e2160 and save the money. You should be able to hit 3.2Ghz with this board, possibly more with good cooling.

Does anyone think they will actually get some in for this price or should I just cancel and continue looking? I'd like to build in two weeks or so.

Mine's on backorder too. I hope I get it. You should keep looking, and when you actually need the CPU, then cancel the order and buy from somewhere else. That way there is the chance that you'll get it if they get stock by then.
