Hi All,

I received my new Intel P4 3.0 GHz / 800 MHz fsb cpu yesterday.

There were several reports that Intel has a stop ship on the cpu's due to some bug that was discovered at the last moment. I called Intel yesterday and the first tech I spoke to didn't even know the new processor existed.

I called again this morning since I just received my AOPEN AX4C-Max motherboard. Intel has now confirmed there is a stop ship and recommends I return my coveted P3 3.0 Ghz cpu :-((

Keep it and test it out. If it passes your test and doesn't give you any problems at stock speed, then keep it. You can always return it later. Peace.

Yeh.....see if you can find what the bug is.....I would say test the HT and test the cpu in mutitasking environment....really push it...run like prime95 or seti and then run some multimedia apps(playing video and sound) with the internet downloading and notepad or word opened...

Some rumors are saying there really isn't a "bug" with the processor, just a big marketing mistake. I haven't heard or seen any information that specifically identifies the "bug".

Supposedly it is a timing issue in a very few of the cpus tested. They are not sure what is going on yet but they have instructed dealers to not release the cpus yet. I got mine before Intel put a stop ship on them.

So far the CPU is fine. The XMS3200LL memory is another story.

Thanks for the link, I was just researching the XMS3500C2 and TwinX3200LL stuff. It looks like you'll get a better deal buying the XMS3500C2 which is rated better anyways!
