It will be the same price tomorrow at CDW-G, that's just the way their prices are. You pay more when it's capitalized/net terms.

My CFL i3 from Newegg, shows "Shipped", and I got a tracking number. But the tracking number doesn't show it's on the way, yet. I'll see. I should get it by Fri., I expect.

This does not bode well for the current rumors. My order changed.

BX80684I78700K
Qty 1 - Backordered Est. Ship Date - 10/18/2017

Yeah I've been doing some calling and can confirm there's an "incredible" shortage of 8700k cpus. Does not bode well, very disappointing.

Say it ain't so....... 🙁

So even if we do happen to snag one, we get ripped off on the price. Intel WTH!

Probably 10 for my entire country, sigh...all this waiting for a disappointment. If so I may as well end up waiting until the end of Nov and get myself the Maximus X Code. Let's see what tomorrow brings first eh (not hopeful)... Skylake repeat 🙁 Like Arachnotronic I got my current CPU waiting for the 6700K but ended up never getting one and instead opt for a 8700K.

We will know soon if this was a rushed launch from Intel in response to Ryzen slowly picking up in retail channel sales. Somehow I get the feeling Intel is scared as they have dominated the CPU market for so long and now all of a sudden they are facing stiff competition. The next few years are going to be good for Intel too as it will bring back the resilience at Intel. I will never underestimate both AMD and Intel. Both these companies have some fine engineers. All they need is great leaders. Hopefully Intel board shows Brian Krzanich the door and picks a strong leader.

I have no doubt that Coffee Lake was pulled in because of the success of Ryzen in the DIY market. The more cores for a reasonable price (both CPU and platform -- X299 platform is relatively expensive and is not a consistent performer in games thanks to the new cache structure) is clearly something that's getting people excited about upgrading.

It's a pretty exciting upgrade if you're coming from a Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, Haswell, or something older than these.

Are you planning to buy a Coffee Lake?

I wasn't around on release day for an Intel CPU before.... do they normally go on sale at midnight EST or something?

Ugh. That's really disappointing. I wonder if it is an issue of yields or simply that Intel hasn't had a lot of time to build up inventory ahead of the formal announcement.

It really depends on the retailer. Hard to predict and it's been so long since my (failed) attempt to buy 6700K at launch that I honestly can't remember.

I'll be staying up 'till midnight though to try to bag me one of these 8700Ks from the 'egg.

I wonder if Microcenter will have anything in stock? I think I'm going to give my local store a call.

I think it's the latter. They probably weren't really looking to release hex core cpus until early 2018 but got pushed by AMD to do it early.

I don't think its a matter of production. You can't tell me that Intel doesn't have the power to produce a lot of cpus and move them around to retailers if they really wanted to.
Same goes for iphones and all other shit that sells out, it's marketing, helps building the hype and control their losses of unsold stock.

Dumb tip
