200mm wafers and 130nm. It sure served its time and then some.

I was informed yesterday of this. I have friends who work there too.

mostly a 130nm plant, or around that size.

Seems like a huge waste. Can't they repurpose it for newer chips?

Unfortunately no. Just look at how few fabs that can even handle 450mm wafers for example due to roof height. (I think you can count them all on a hand.).

The article said that it was on the sale block. I wonder what they make there...

They mainly made chipsets if I recall right. Besides some communication parts. Most likely older network equipment.

I guess what I meant is, "I wonder what Intel product Ford uses" :colbert:

Something like this talks about Atom, which isn't produced on such an old process. My guess is a variety of support chips, etc.
