Holy crap, 45nm? I thought they were working on 65nm.

I would love to see Intel back in the game...

They're trying to release 65nm proccess right now. Supposedly at the IDF.

Ya, we're looking at 65nm CPUs from Intel some time in 2006, with AMD likely in 2007, and Intel with 45nm again no earlier than 2008.

Personally I preferred the story about how Intel admitted rushing their dual-core P4's to market because they were behind AMD:

...but anyways, it will be interesting to see how the coming process changes affect things. I haven't heard much about switching to smaller manufacturing processes since AMD went to 90 nm, so maybe Intel is getting back in the lead.
