Intel chipset for gaming...

Im looking to build a new system for gaming, im just wondering what chipset would be good for a middle of the road system, im planning on a i5-750 cpu, is the H55 chipset a good fit?

Get P55 instead of H55 if you are going to use i5 750. H55/57 basically provides support for the i3s with IGP (so the board has on-board video outputs). i5 doesn't have IGP, so P55 is perfect for it. This is a good P55 board.

im running a e8500 chip now with 4gb's of 1066 ocz, would that(i5-750) cpu with 4gb's of 1600 memory be a big difference?

In most games, performance gain will be minimal (all depends on your video card). In multi-core optimized games (eg. GTA IV), it'll be a pretty big improvement. In productivity tasks, you will get huge improvements from the E8500 to i5 750.

Im running a gtx 260, im considering doing this for the upcoming game bad company 2, just not sure if i need to upgrade yet

I heard that Bad Company 2 will be quad core optimized and that the recommended system requirements say that a quad core is required. So go for the i5 750 is a good idea.

the performance diff in games between an e8500 and an i5 750 will be very small. for the price you would pay for i5 750, p55 mb and ddr3, you could get a 5870, or a 5850 and a small ssd. this would make a much bigger difference.

This.

I went from my Q9550 to an i7 920 with Unreal Tournament III which utilizes all 4 core, and there was a BIGGER difference going from my 4870 to this 5870.

GPU upgrade all the way!
