Hi!

This is my first intel mobo (asus p5k), before i had nforce4. I would like to uninstal the chipset driver but i can`t find it in my add/remove programs. How do i uninstall it?

I wanna update the driver, with nforce4 i just uninstalled the old driver and than ran driver cleaner.

Please help!

It`s listed under IDE ATA/ACPI controllers as intel ICH9 SATA storage controller (2x) and under universal serial bus controllers as INTEL ICH9 family universal host controller (8x) and that`s it.

That`s so dumb that there is not an uninstaller for the whole thing. Should i just uninstall those two? Or should i just overide the driver?

How do you guys update the driver?

What are you talking about? You can't put the Nforce drivers on an Intel chipset.

Wow, is my english that bad? Im saying that i do not have any experience with intel mobo`s (this is my first one). Before i had nforce 4. And if i wanted to uninstall the chipset driver (on nforce4) i just went to add/remove programs and did it, ran the driver cleaner and installed a new one.

But with asus p5k (intel chipset) i don`t have any entry for intel chipset in add/remove programs so i can`t uninstall it (i wanna install a newer driver). In device manager i only have those two i mentioned before.

So my question is how do you guys uninstall the intel chipset driver when you wanna update it?
Or do you just install it over the old one?

Sorry if my english sucks that bad that Old Hippie that u didn`t understand me. Or is you just slow (kidding) :)?

Run the latest Intel installer and that will put the right drivers in the right place.

well, if the Intel drivers are there, then you don't have to uninstall anything. you're good to go. just download the intel chipset intallation and run it, it'll install the latest. I suspect the ones in now are a default in XP.

Your English is fine, but my middle two names are "Slow and Confused". :D

I guess I was just confused because you wanted to uninstall the drivers to install new ones. Even on my AMD board, I just right click and update. The only time I use a driver cleaner is when I'm moving to an entirely new manfg for whatever device I'm replacing.

I'm glad my confusion and slowness aren't contagious....although, I'm pretty sure that's how I got 'em.

The one i have now is intel chipset driver from may 2007. I just saw on asus page that the new one is september 2007, so i want to update. If i understand you right, i just run the new instaler and install "september" over "may" driver (no uninstalling the old one), just override?
