Intel Centrino parts... same pipeline/architecture as P4?

The processor in Centrino, Pentium M, is nothing like the Pentium 4. It's a high IPC, lower clockspeed design like Athlon.

it is based on the pentium 3 design

Dothan is the new centrino chip. Banias was last year's news. 😀

Dothan is similar to Athlon in IPC, but not architecture.

The performance characteristic of the Pentium-M is much closer to that of the Pentium-III and AMD chips than to the Pentium-4.

The different cache sizes also mess up comparisions.
