Intel Buys McAfee

They are promising hardware integrated security. Would that work or improve PC security beyond current levels?

Seems to make no sense to me since the OS sits between Intel Hardware and McAfee software. (Admittedly i am not a tech)

Seems to me that security embedded in chips could be a blessing or easily exploited security holes on steroids.

But of all the gin joint security firms intel could buy, by in large McAfee has a pretty poor reputation.

But intel has the bucks to feel froggie, will kissing the frog make it turn into a handsome prince or princess or just gives us all warts? Time will tell.

Maybe Intel can construct a add-in-card for PCs that can hardware accelerate Mcafee Security Suite and save their users from being crippled by something worse than the viruses.

Well it could have been a little more worse : Norton Security D:

Isn't hard to contunually hardware based security for emerging threats? Outdated security is would be useless.

On the call they seem to imply this was more for stuff like internet ready TVs, media boxes etc (essentially internet ready Consumer Electronics) and maybe stuff like smartphones and tablets.

It amazes me how much they paid for McAfee. It's obvious that this is all about the name and not about product performance.
