Intel buys 100,000 shares of AMD

<< It had 100,000 shares in its cheeky little rival Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) ? it's done this before. >>

Why did Intel do it before? 😕
Does AMD have Intel stock?

*puts on conspiracy hat*

Or maybe they are slowly trying to get a large percentage of AMD ownership...

Or maybe they are trying to prove that they aren't a monopoly...

I dunno.

Just seems odd that a company would dump several million into their closest rival. Would you ever see GM dumping money into Ford?

😕

Microsoft did that in order to keep Apple from going under. Intel will not try a hostile takeover because the DOJ or SEC or SCC or whatever wouldn't allow it. It would upset the CPU market and give Intel too large a share of the market.

mb i missed that day, but aren't you "dumping money into them" if you are buying new issue? once it's been purchased it's just circulating. it's just another stock. I'm sure that GM has Ford stock and visa versa.

I work at home dpeot, and own lowes stock 😛

I am in it for the money. not sure about this tho, but it is kinda cool.

Consider the source of this article.... Then turn the page to read about Bat Boy graduating college at 8 with 2 PhDs.

yeah, intel needs to keep AMD alive so they dont get hit with a monopoly lawsuit like microsoft did.. just my guess though.
