So what happened to that Broadwell 5.1GHz quad? Anyone seen or heard of it again?
It sounded like the definitive desktop part, at least with current rate of improvements...

Unless you are a hedge fund or the NSA you aren't seeing it. The Westmere version of it was something like $4K.

Different systems so not comparable, Maintenance Bot is using the exact same config & settings for both chips. But nice try csbin.

onyone who think broadwell-e will have 10-15% IPC gain vs haswell-E must be crazy.Thats more than sandy bridge vs haswell.
Broadwell is only Tick.
Its like ivy bridge vs sandy bridge.

There was an i7-5775C ES chip at 5.2GHz under cold but as far as retail 4.7GHz at 1.6V. Did want to have a play with one but where I live it's like it never existed, not for sale anywhere (in country).

So you found the answer already. I was about to ask regarding your previous posting, whether clock frequency was fixed.

Here you can see, how important power efficiency is with many cores in a MT app as a driver for higher performance.

Oddly enough in the illustations for the "Up to 8 Core (LLC)" there are actually ten cores :sneaky:

Allegedly the size of the 10 core variant is 246mm².
