Intel Bonnell

I've been hearing some 'interesting' things about this project but all these tips are rather 'information impaired'.

Anyone know anything useful? Things like 'it will be really innovative' are no better than what I currently know.

I want to know how far along the mitosis compiler is to make multicore truely useful in a widespread range of applications.

Mitosis is a research project, not a compiler. Nothing may ever come out of it, because in research a negative result is just as valid as a positive result.

The theory behind Mitosis doesn't apply until you get into large numbers of cores, the research isn't directed at duals or quads.

Mitosis research is directly targetted at quads and higher.

It is a combination between compiler technology and hardware working together.

Do any of the replies here have anything to do with Bonnell?

There really isnt much info out there, sorry about the hijack, i would be interested to learn about it too.

Like the OP said, the info is kind of anemic.

Yah, I wasn't really sure if Bonnell was just another codename for mitosis the way you guys were talking about it. hehe.

Lol. No.

I think Bonnell is Intel's new ultra-low power CPU - for laptops/embedded stuff. Don't know much other that it's probably a 65 nm system-on-a-chip probably based on a shrink of the Core architecture.

Hmm. Maybe not enough 'probably's in there. 🙂
