The board they used for the AMD system didn't have the BIOS update for the CPU they put on it. AKA the timing wasn't even right! Why the ****** would you guys even post that crap on the site without mentioning it was completely rigged?

I heard the whole thing was pretty much sponsored by Intel anyway - what'd ya expect ? ;)

I'm sure AMD (or ATI or NVidia) would never do anything like that though.

That's really strange then considering the numbers were on par for that AMD setup.

Don't you get it???? What does it matter if Intel cleans up with Conroe? All it will mean for us is cheaper and better chips!:D Competition is GOOD!

IIRC a few people with FX-60's and XFire X1900XT's ran the FEAR demo and had similar numbers. :p

and that means what to the benchmarks? even with a bios update and different timings, it wouldnt change anything or even the fact that the AMD processor was KILLED by the conroe. there's hardly any evidence to say the benchmark was rigged either. i'm not that suprised by the huge leap in performance. it was clearly expected of intel. this is how competition works, and it benefits us just as mcuh as it does to them.

Fine by me if the new CPU runs faster. It's about time Intel started to do something besides charge a premium for inferior performance ;)

They're (Intel) supposed to be the leader, why do they keep putting out the crap they have been the last few years ?

I'll go with whichever is better - just don't expect to gouge me . . . .

so intel might be better than amd this time around.

cry about it.

i'd be more worried about whatever ends up being fastest.

i concur. though i'm an amd fan, i'm going with whichever is the better product.

It'll be a few months before it's out. So time will tell. I like Intel , but give mad props to the performance that AMD has in the gaming market.
If this Conroe chip turns out to be a fluke ( Which I doubt it is ) it is GREAT for the competition between the two chip makers. Like many have already said , this is what keeps technology moving forward.
It just hurts the feelings of a fanboy on one side or the other.....

Personally , I think It's time Intel comes back to the table with something rockin like this.....I've been waiting.

Oh please, the Conroe system was using DDR2@667Mhz. The final product is slated for DDR2@800Mhz.

I've used both Intel and AMD. My last few Systems have been AMD, but lets face it, price/performance, heat, and power have pretty much been in AMD's court recently.

If Intel is on top the next time I look to upgrade, I'll certainly entertain them on the same basis I make my choices today - unless I come across more cash than I know what to do with. ;)
