Hello,

Has anybody tried the Intel Application Accelerator ?

This is what the Product Overview says :

The Intel® Application Accelerator is a new performance software package for Intel desktop PCs.

[*]Download the Intel Application Accelerator

Intel Application Accelerator also provides:
[*]Faster Boot Time via Accelerated Operating System Load Time
[*]Accelerated Disk I/O for Games, Graphics Applications, Disk Utilities, and Media Authoring Applications
[*]Performance-enhancing Data Pre-fetcher for Intel® Pentium® 4 processor-based systems
[*]Support for 137GB and larger hard drives

I can't try it out yet, because I have a PC w/ an BX chipset. (Only 8.. chipsets are supported.)
I wanted to buy a new system with a desktop Palomino when they are available, but now I'm not too sure anymore.

Any feedback/experiences are greatly appreciated.

I'm sure that I saw a review on the web somewhere that had performance numbers that were not quite as large as the ones that Intel shows in their benchmarks. More like 0-6% improvement on the configuration that was tested. Anyone know where the review is?

I saw on the Storage Review forums that people were having trouble with CDRW's and the IAA, not able to burn CD's anymore. I haven't tried it yet myself.

Clarification - when I said 0-6% above, I was referring to disk performance, not boot times.

Wingznut - Do you know if IAA helps boot times with Win XP? I think XP has a built in optimizer that orders the driver to improve boot times.

I'm not sure... You might want to look through that thread that I linked, and see if anyone there is running XP.

And yeah, I knew what you meant by the 0-6%... If you happen to remember that link, would you throw it my way? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies.
After reading your replies and the other tread, I've come to the conclusion to still wait for the desktop Palomino.
