Intella, I dont understand "If there was a chip to be late it is this one?"

Intel spent billions, told the world and dog X86 was doomed, and Itanium was coming. All this was in 1994. It has missed projections by miles and is always outsold by opteron (X86 appears in good health if you ask me).

Im not saying it's useless, I couldnt say that, due to the facts it's just not true. But I dont see the fuss nor does anyone of this thread so far concerning IA64.

IA64/Prescott/Netburst in general have been let downs (Northwood is let off).

5. X86 continues to grow
6. Development has been scaled way back
7. AMD sells more semprons I bet then this "X86" killer. It's a fact that Opteron has outsold Intaium by a factor of 10 and that was a year ago.

8. Xeon's outsell it by about oh, 300%.

Poor emulation is the result of no mainstream OS
X86 continues to grow because of poor emultaion and late adoption, making it a niche part
Being a niche market part creates the enormous cost
Development has been scaled back because of its lack of success
AMD sells more semprons than Athlon 64s...
Xeons outsell Itaniums by about 10000%

Netburst - Seems its going away but the benefits that it brought to Intel in knowlegde alone was well worth the trip down this road ! Intel learned much from this and it well benefit to all us Intel user for years to come.

P4P Vs P4C this is so funny its almost unbelievable . I well not go into this much but anyone who thinks Intel was trying for better arch. on the P4P is out to lunch. P4C was much more complacated than P4P the P4C was also more expensive for intel to produce.
Intel for some reason believed the 90nano tech and longer pipes would scale to 5GHz well it couldn't and that is the biggest mistake Intel ever made.
So what happened with the P4P. Well AMD 64 happened and Intel rather than making a sound rational decision. threw together the P4P and thats exactly the way this cpu was created it was thrown together with very little thought and its performance showed it

The thing is the Intel put together this terriable CPU and has made more money off of this crap processor than AMD has made in its entire history. lol

Is Intel strong arming people I don't know and really don't care . If I was Mike Dell I would catter to Intel . Think about it AMD can't supply the chips!!!!

I recently read an article comparing Cpu's to the human brain that was so funny.

Scientist for the past 100 years have been asking why there's not any silcon based life any ware. Well now they no why. Silcon well not scale down small enough. As we already know carbon based computing is years away but it well scale way down and even be cells, billions of cells just like the human brain . So we can talk Silcon all day all night it won't change the fact that in the end. It well be billions of carbon based cell processors that well rule in the end with a central processor. Bell labs has some very interesting
Tech . going on right now if your a techy go visit Bell Labs. Its good its all speculation but these are the things dreams are based on.

One thing that is a true statement. I am very happy I have my $$$$$ and not yours.

Capt Putts again you go off all over the place . never once did i say anthing thats not true . Everthing that is in the past that I stated are documented facts . R520 is that future or is it present does it exist or is it vaporware. Yes it does exist well it be faster than 7800 ? Yes it is. but the facts are it hasn't been released. Crossfire real or vapor ware . Most be real because it broke the world record in 05. Just last week nvidia got the record back in PCmarks 05. So what was ATI point. That ever sense 9700pro ATI has dominated every new round of releases. By beating sli and the 6800 ultra Ati was won that round also. It took nvidia,s next generation gpu to take the record away from ATI's present generation GPU. When R520 is released it will take back the record and keep the momentium going that ATI has dominated every nvidia release since the 9700 pro I like that Ati went back and picked that up and kept the string of wins intact.
So Capt Putts the future is a subject that people with vision can play around with because there are no trueths no facts because it just isn't happening yet. People like yourself however shouldn't goof around with the future because you get it confused with the present. I am not cutting you down. Now run the P4P3800GHz. and the AMD 64 Fx 57 on the same memory arch. who is going to win be honest . Intel wins hands down . So this supper dupper AMD Processor infact beats intel on memory lat. only+it runs cooler. pure processing power Intel wins .

Your ATI/Nvidia example is so stupid. Each company comes out with a new generation product to beat the other. Nvidia had a SLI solution. ATI didn't or it was in development. Nvidia was out first and thus it outperformed a single ATI card. ATI comes out with Cross-fire and it outperforms Nvidia's SLI. So, that makes ATI better? No. B/c Nivida will come out with a better product and then ATI will. It's called competition. Each companie's products are better at particular a time. One does not dominant the other the whole time. The same can be said for the 7800 vs R520.

Man you said that very well thank you. With apple getting only 1% of the pc market . Would you say that apple is a niche market? I would and I think that Intel has found a perfect partner to help them bring true 64 bit processing to mainstream . The first apple system will be x86 and right around the time the 64 bit O/S is ready . Intel will be ready with CSI and moving fast to a common platform. I can see it now Apple servers (OH! MY GOD)
