Intel and Memory

I know AMD needs 2 memroy chips to get dual speed. Does intel need to 2 chips to max memory speeds also?

I asking about both Pentuim D and Core 2 Duo.

Yup, Dual Channel Memory. Introduced first with the 875/865 chipset (the Northwood era).
