Ok, got my brand spankin new laptop, first thing I did after about a day of playing with it? I wipe the HD and reformt and put a copy of XP pro on it. Everything is normal, except for an issue with the laptop recoving out of standby or hibernation. The computer comes back on, but the screen remains blank. You can hear the XP sound of the log on window popping up, but no screen. The only way around this is to shut everything off, and start up fresh again. XP does not like this, cuz windows will reboot in 640x480 and the driver will be toast. I cannont reset the resolution unless I reinstall the Intel 830 graphics driver. Is this a known issue, or is there a fix to this.

Prior to my reformating, it XP home, and the limited times that it did go to standby it never had this problem. Ideas??

Thanks

Hibernation is more of a laptop feature. You have to certify each piece of hardware and its relative driver for your PC and OS in order to get it to work. Even then, because desktop parts just aren't normally used with hibernation, you can have abnormally long powerup times. Some Compaq machines (back in P166MMX days) I used to support had an issue with the harddrives re-entering hibernation before the motherboard could pop back awake and so everything would go back to sleep before the whole system woke up. Talk about frustrating...
