If this is true, then this is exciting news. We will have to wait to get confirmation of course. I would buy this over an OCZ model any day. But at this point it is pure speculation.

Wouldn't be surprising. OCZ has the unlocked Sandforce but their recent actions have sullied their rep so badly I wouldn't be surprised if Sandforce decided they needed a flagship partner with a better rep.

If this is real, I would certainly buy one of them. The main thing holding me back from a Sandforce SSD is reliability. If Intel is selling one, it will certainly be tested far more thoroughly than other Sandforce SSDs.

I'll be all over this or the Corsair Force GT. I'm guessing they will both have the uncapped firmware, and if not, 20K IOPS is plenty fast.

The article in question shows pictures from before that happened.
Also, the situation you described happened very recently, it takes much longer than that to bring such a product to market.
Some time ago, as intel was about to miss their october 2010 deadline (possibly before that date) for their G3 release, they must have started looking into alternatives, alternatives such as the marvel controller drive they just released. It stands to reason they would have looked into other controllers besides marvel.

Most constructive bunch of guys I know! The question I have first and foremost is whether one hates going through my site because of its appearance or dislike of my ideals in computing. Honesty is always appreciated and I know I can get it here.

Personally, I kind of liked the BMW. I think we get to tied up in the technical aspects of it all and its nice to sit back and write at a level that many enjoy. We receive several compliments simply because people are doing anything but falling asleep by the time they reach the end.

Talt, I appreciate your comment because it was very accurate. Sitting here writing up my Intel review as we speak and trying to get through the droves of e-mail. Did you guys know I was drawing for a INTEL i7-975 Extreme in the near future?

The one thing that kind of gets me is why anyone would think that I might risk the reputation of myself and site on information that I wasn't absolutely sure of. Its kind of like there is only one person who would know this above all others and, if not, it cant be true.
