Intel 460T Express switch

i recently recieved this switch from a friend of mine but noticed a problem upon configuration. It is a 24 port model yet when I go into configure it, it only thinks it is a 16 port switch. I reflashed with firmware from intel's site, they made no distiction between 16 and 24 port firmware so I assume they both use the same. Has anyone had any experiences like this? Any possible remedy? Thanks.

do the ports have to manually be turned on?? Jusyt a stab in the dark... Give intel a call and see if they have any known issues with the model..

reply, I've been all through the settings in the configuration and in the model of it, it only says 16 port, and stats for 1-16. The thing about calling is that it is a discontinued model and i was looking for a phone number to call and see but the page said they no longer give email or phone support for this. and warranty is out of the question as i am not the original owner, they are giving warranty replacements out until sometime in 2005 though.

Was the person you get it from the original owner?? If so, I might suggest seeing if it can be RMA'd..

The only other thing I could think of is that the last 8 ports aren't managed at all, just the first 16... Kinda kooky, but it wouldn't surprise me..

nah, he wasnt the original owner. they should all be managed since between the 16 and 24 port models they have both have port aggregation and on the 24 port an anchor port is like 20 or somwthing, maybe it just has bad ports, but doesnt explain why everywhere in the thing says its only 16 port...i dunno

If somebody has ports 16-24 setup as an Ethernet Trunk (aka, Cisco Etherchannel Trunk), then the slave ports will no longer be displayed, only the master port. Delete the Trunk and the slaves should return to normal.
