Intel 2.0A P4 price drop ($199) - time to move up??

The price drops are "official" tomorrow, but vendors always start listing the lower prices before they go into effect With the low price for the 2GHz NW, I'm wondering if this will now be the processor of choice to oc to near 3GHz (for those of us less skilled than Thugsrook).

P4 2.0A - $199
P4 1.8A - $169
P4 1.6A - $123

A 2 GHZ NW is no more likely to get any higher than a 1.6A. It will also be slower since it will run on a slower FSB @ the same CPU clock speed.

On an i845 board:

1.6A @ 2.4 GHz
16 x 600 FSB DDR300 (1:1) or DDR400 (3:4)

2.0A @ 2.4 GHz
20 x 480 FSB DDR240 (1:1) or DDR320 (3:4)

IMHO, a 2.0A is a downgrade from a 1.6A

yeah, but with some luck 2.0A@133 MHz FSB + good PC800= 2.66 GHz + PC1066

I would still go for the 1.6A because it was more fun to overclock it

i dont think the 2.0s are hitting 133fsb on a regular basis yet.

id still say your choice is still 1.6a or 1.8a - depending on where you want you fsb speed to wind up.
