Intel 160G2G SSD firmware 02HA

Is this safe to leave alone? The drive came that way and seems to be OK. Or should I upgrade?

It's not clear what the bug was. As far as I can tell (and Intel seem to be keeping quiet about it) was that drives flashed to 02HA in the field would occasionally be bricked on the next reboot.

I've not heard of any other problems with it.

Mine's was 02HA out of the box, and until I hear of a compelling reason to update it, it's staying that way (unless I suddenly find myself with a lot of time on my hands).

Ditto here.

It came with a notebook PC and it runs OK and scores are in line with what I expected. If it's not broke I'm not going to fix it. (although I want to!)

My 80GB was also 02HA out of the box. However it doesn't take long to just download the firmware, burn it onto a CD and flash the SSD. So it never knew life with 02HA with me.

ditto first thing I did was flash the firmware after I plugged in to make sure my system would see the drive.

my 160GB drive also came with 02HA when I bought it in decemeber.

Should there be a problem flashing the firmware update AFTER the OS is installed? I am helping my dad out...so I bought him an Intel 40GB drive and he forgot to do this before the Win 7 install.

Any bricking issues with existing OS?

I bought mine on release day (within 20 minutes of release, at a great price), I have upgraded to the "Bad" firmware without any problems, and then to the latest firmware.

I see no reason to not upgrade to latest firmware, to date I have not heard of a single problem with it.

As far as I know, the problem was only when flashing TO that firmware, not from. And once the firmware was on the drive, you're good to go.

I also heard that the 02HA firmware was slightly better performance wise than it's successor, though that may be false, and the opposite may even be true.

No problems at all! I just downloaded an iso file, burned it with Nero, rebooted into FreeDos and hit the Y key twice. Didn't even cross my fingers! Posting from the box with the very drive. Have not checked speeds before/after. (don't care honestly - it works! 😉 )
