I recently added a new intake fan for my HDD cage, and to my surprise it makes noise like a mini vacuum cleaner.

If I remove the fan/place as an exhaust, the noise completely disappears.

So, I guess it’s the grill tht is causing the noise. So:-

1] If I remove the grill will the fan air intake will be further increased and I will get further lower temps. ?

2] How to remove the grill? Do I need to call sum welder wid a welding machine ? - Image of the grill attached

3] I have this black plastic part on my back exhaust fan, where I can directly insert & remove fan without screws… whts this known as? Can I add this on the front to eliminate the noise problem? – Image Attached

1) noise is because the air holes are too small compared to surrounding metal. if you hack it out you will get easier flowing air (quiter) and more air (cooler).
2) iunno just attack it with whatever you can. hacksaw? angle grinder? plasma cutter? Jus leave the mounting holes well supported & keep the cut symmetrical.
3) hard black plastic & less secure fit will make more noise, you want squishy stuff.
4) i would get an after market filter to keep the dust down

Edit: 5) some fans are just noisy

I would strip the whole thing down, you don't want iron filings anywhere near... anything.

Note: from your description is was a "wooshing" rather than a "clicking" or "vibrating" noise? I have done the same thing in the past with good results, but I had a decent fan & knew it was an airflow problem.

after cutting the thing out (snips, dremel, whatever), i'd use a bar magnet wrapped in plastic wrap all over the inside of my case to get any little bits of metal out. the plastic wrap allows you to get the shavings off the magnet (otherwise you'll never get them off)

Also, make sure to tape the around the cut you made so you dont cut your finger on a sharp edge

okay, i have finally made a hole as i wanted and i have elminated the noise completely which i was facing. Infact it also helped in lowering overall temps by 2C.

I have used hammer & chisel for this work and it went very smoothly.
