The game suffered some graphical reductions to improve framerate, I was hoping they'd take another approach to the FPS issue.

I'll have to see if I actually notice the difference. It sounds like the reductions were fairly minor.

I'm disappointed they took this route to improve the framerates, because I think they had more to do with bad coding than anything else. When the difference between "High" graphics and "Low" graphics is only a few FPS, you know something is messed up coding wise. Personally I didn't have too many problems, anyway.... there were some graphical glitches and slow downs, especially on the Baghdad map, but only with a packed server. I've only played a few maps, but the only one I had the slightest trouble on was Baghdad.

All they needed to do is fix whatever problems are causing the poor performance, and let uses choose low, med, or high. There's no reason EVERYONE needs to be stuck on "medium", and I feel that with the 1.1 changes, that is what's happening. Wanting the better graphics is not discriminating against those with older hardware... they can play the game on Low, but let me play the game on High with all the effects and great graphics that were in 1.0

I don't understand this mod at all, it has some crazy bugs or maybe its just me missing something in game.

1. I see muzzle flashes all over map at random times. coming out of walls, middle of air, etc.
2. Smoke appears for like 2 seconds and is gone.
3. The models look the same to me unless im right next to them.
4. The gameplay fells "chunky" I get stuck on everything in map all the time, its to the point you can't just walk up and duck behind something you have to crawl to it to have cover.

Graphics wise it looks great except for glitches i mentioned though.
On a 8800GTS to so its not like its my card.

It's supposed to be "realistic" which is why the gameplay is chunky. I played it for about 30 mins and gave up.

I should note it ran fine on my PC with no slowdown.

You call realistic running around like you're on rollerskates and getting "stuck" on corners of buildings that you're trying to edge around - only to have to BACK UP to free yourself and take the corner open and wide?

Getting 1-shotted ALL THE FRIGGIN time (even when there's clearly NOBODY around you)?

Heh... TCE is far better than this.

well, 1-shotted is quite realistic. That's why we mostly don't play realistic games. Of course they haven't made sighting in a careful process with breathing control and eye relief/focus like in real life. In gaming, it's extremely easy to aim your gun where you want it to fire, and your crosshairs are perfect (albeit offset by randomized accuracy which is horsesh!t) Coding for "realistic" weapon mechanics (although fascinating to someone like myself) would be so "clunky" that users wouldn't even get to 30 minutes!

(I don't mean to pretend you don't understand real weapons, I'm just saying...)

I didn't say it was good or that I even liked it. As I stated, I played it about 30 mins and gave up. I think it's rubbish.

The game (*mod) is an awesome idea and since this is only the beta they have plenty of room to grow. The gun models are beautifully realistic and the graphics just need some "next-gen" flair like motion blur and better particle effects to make it a stellar game visually. I've been complaining that Battlefield 2 (don't argue about the ownership and politics of this) should have been done on an improved Source engine, and that's exactly what I recited when I fired this up. Performance is similar but BF2 looks like crap when you compare similar environments.

The game can be fun but unless you are playing with a good commander it's really pretty awful.

You got proven wrong on the insurgency forums already. Someone posted a screenshot, the graphics difference between 1.0 and 1.1 is very small, and unless you have your face 1 inch away from the screen I doubt you would notice that it looks more "average"

I didn't 'get proven wrong', one static screenshot on one map doesn't show anything. Some areas were changed and others were not. Besides, there's another screenshot after that showing real character model differences, not to mention the two dozen or so other people who've posted the same sentiment
