I currently drive an 81' Z28 camaro and insurance is $800/year for liability with good student discount. I'm looking at a 4 door 1997 Honda Civic EX (this will not be a ricer, just reliable transpertation hence the 4 door) and I'm trying to ballpark some insurance rates. Anyone have any ideas? Full coverage or liability.

Thanks:)

all state will probably among the highest priced insurance. You may want to try AAA or Geico. If all you are going to get is PL/PD get Titan.

Allstate was nearly half of what Geico was for me. Allstate is very good to you when you have good driver status, and very bad when you have bad status. Geico didn't really care much about driver status, it was just more expensive to begin with.

Either that, or my insurance agent is just very generous with discounts and finds ways to help us pay the lowest amount possible.

there arent too many discounts to be had. Airbags, ABS, etc. You are very lucky.

We've got good student discounts on there too :)

I pay about $700 a year for a '00 Passat w/ full coverage and a '94 camry with liability only. I'm under 25, and unmarried.

that is unheard of. My dad pays more than that for a PT Cruiser and he hasnt had a ticket in 20 years.

allstate has included a credit rating in their quoting and prices........ if you have good scoring...you get good rates and vice-versa
this makes a big difference.

You must live in the middle of nowhere, right? My parents both have 20+ years w/ no tickets or accidents, drive an '01 Camry and '89 Toyota Pickup and I know their insurance is a lot more then that.

This is complete BS, and I won't sign up for any insurance that requires a credit history report. Progressive asks for this information in their online application. F*ck you! It's non of your damn business. Why? Because my financial history has NOTHING to do with my driving ability. Sure it'd be nice to be rewarded for good credit history, but it's completely unfair to punish me for a bad credit history. Unfortunately, it seems that more and more companies will be doing this in order to insure you. Why do they do this? Well, obvious. To rape your asshole of more money.

My dad's the primary driver on my car in my sig and full insurance comes out to less than $800 a year. I was happy that I'm paying that plus the increase for me "driving" his car. Now instead of paying $2,700 a year, I pay $2,000 a year.

i do agree. I am just explaining the policies where i work
they have done studies that apparently show a connection between credit and the amount of claims people make....who knows...that is all they tell us lowly agents
