Hi All,
I am trying to install a Windows XP Home Edition onto a Windows 98 SE hard drive.
Every time I boot onto the CD drive it starts fine but after a minute or so I get an error. It says something like
"Initialization Error" and then I have to turn off the computer/
Now I got help from Microfsoft and did a new install on 1 hard drive, but I have HUNDREDS of email addresses and THOUSANDS of "Favorites" and no WAY can I transfer all that by myself.
Does anybody know a solution to this problem?
Is there a program that will extract all my settings, email addresses and favorites and install them into my new XP operating system?
I am still using Internet Explorer and Outlook Express revision 6 on both operating systems.
Any hints would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric

Is your old hard drive installed in the new machine? Can you access the files on it?

The installation is in the old machine. I have two hard drives. Right now I am running 98SE off of one of them. When I restart my computer I have the option to boot to either the C: (98SE) or th (XP)
drive.Since I have so far remained with FAT32 both operating systema can read or write to both drives.

OK!! I got it.
After Googling for it I found a university website that reminded me how to do it.
I am NOW using XP to get to THIS site (and all the others)!
