Installing XP upgrade to a bare drive & ownership requirements

I intend to install the Windows XP Professional Upgrade to a bare drive. I understand that the Windows 98SE disc will allow me to verify eligibility. Can anyone tell me from personal experience whether the 98SE upgrade disc will be sufficient. I only own upgrade versions since Windows 3.11. Thanks!

I have personally used the upgrade of win98 ( in your sitiuation bare drive XP PRO install), but I understand you can use, win 98, 98se, me, or XP home. It will ask you to insert the disk for verification on a bare drive. Some one you know most likely has a upgrade disk lying around that you could get for cheep!

Thanks. If I understand you correctly, the Win 98SE UPGRADE disc WILL suffice? I have the upgrade discs, just no full versions to insert when asked for. As long as the Win 98SE upgrade disc will satisfy the XP install program, I'm golden.
