I recently bought Windows XP Home Edition, just now I tried installing it in my system that I just built (My first system). I set the CD in the drive, restarted my computer..
The CD was in the Windows Set-Up screen, loading the setup.. After a few checks it said starting windows.. Then a few seconds later the screen blinked and an error message popped up:
STOP:c0000221 Unknown Hard Error
\SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll
I really hope it isnt a defective drive, since I started ordering the parts, building it, it has extended almost into 2-3 weeks, if I have to send it back and get another one, might as well take 2 months to get this computer running. All possible answers for posts are appreciated, if I can get this resolved without making it a 2 week long discussion via forums I would also really appreciate it.
My System:
AMD 3000+ Anthon 64 Processor
MSI K8T800 Motherboard
1024MB Corsair Ram
450w MGE PSU
Geforce 6800GT 256mb Video card
What could have I done wrong? Software? BIOs? Hardware Setup? Defective Drive? Before I take action, I need to have a 80-90% answer because exchanging HDDs would take the most time to find out that that wasnt the problem
