Installing XP from USB Memory Stick

I am in the process of building myself a new PC and after doing much research, I have read that the Asus P5B Deluxe motherboards install the ATA 133 drivers from CD as they are not present from the bios.
Seeing as I only have a Pioneer 109 DVDR which uses ATA 133 it would seem that I would have a problem. An easy fix would be just to buy a SATA DVD rom and use that to install windows, however since I don't use many cds/dvds it would be a waste in my setup to have more then 1 dvd drive.
Is it possible to do a full install of Windows XP from a 1 gig USB memory stick? I tried to do some research and found a program called BartPE but with a 1 gig USB stick I think I should be able to do a full install instead of a watered down version of XP. Has anyone else tried this? I'm not even entirely sure that Asus P5B will allow boot from USB, but being a fairly new motherboard I'm thinking it should be.

It is very important to notice that the single ATA/133 port available on this motherboard is controlled by the JMicron chip, not by the chipset. This means that if you still have a parallel IDE optical drive it will only be recognized on Windows after you install JMicron?s driver. The problem is that this driver comes on the motherboard CD-ROM, and you won?t be able to install it, as the system does not recognize your optical drive. You can download the driver from the net, however the driver for the on-board LAN port is also on the CD-ROM? The only option you have is to copy the JMicron driver from the CD to a floppy disk or a USB pen drive using another PC. This problem happens not only with this motherboard from ASUS, but also with all other motherboards based on Intel P965 chipset we?ve seen to date. Of course if you have a SATA optical drive you won?t face this issue.

Since I currently only own a ATA DVDR drive, there would be no way to install XP as the DVDR wouldn't even be able to boot the Windows CD. I guess I could always create a Windows XP bootdisk with my USB stick to load the drivers, but I would rather install all of XP from my 1 gig memory stick.
