Installing windows on new computer & partitions

I just built a new computer

Athlon 1333
A7V133
768 MB
40 GB 7200RPM ATA100
ATI Radeon
SB Live!
DVD
CDRW

I just turned it on for the first time and am trying to partition the drive with fdisk so I can install windows. I do it and everything seems alright, but when I try to use the drive it says "invalid media type".

I don't get it!!! Before this I've always used WD EZDRIVE to set things up but i can't find the disk.

Help me!

Kntx, you're half way there w/ the fdisk. After fdisk you need to format the drive. Then you'll be good to go for an OS install.

what OS are you trying to install anyway? With that kind of computer I would put on Win2k.

DOH! Formatting... it seems so obvious now.

Win2k??? I have that on my laptop and it's good... But on this system I'll be playing some games so Win98 is the way to go.
