actually, it's probably firefox's fault. i must have a flash anim or something because it's taking up 50% cpu time. so Windows Internet Explorer 7 was installed on a 700 mhz pentium-m, effectively.

ah great now it's giving me the annoying automatic updates 'you need to restart your computer' harassment pop up. :|

After you install IE7, does it completely replace IE6? I was thinking about installing it but I still need IE6 for web dev purposes...

I've been using IE7 for a day now. Honestly, firefox feels a lot "smoother". The tabbed browsing with Firefox feels seamless with tabs opening instataneously. I still see slight pauses when IE is opening a new tab. Furthermore, surfing web pages also feels faster on FF. Images and text load a decent bit faster and more smoothly (none of the resizing effect i'm notice with IE7). I'm not trying to turn this into a flame war but just my observations.

same, anyway to not overwrite IE6?

EDIT: I found the following in a FAQ on MSFT site.

Q: Any plans to offer a supported standalone version of IE? It's really difficult for developers to test against IE6 and IE7, and all other modern browsers (including IE6) worked in .local mode until December 2005.
A: There are currently no plans for a standalone version of IE.
