My friend has a laptop that can only have either the floppy frive or cd rom drive in at a time. Apparently his laptop is not capable of just reading the cd rom wothout a bootdisk so he does need it. How does he go about installing it. I dont know because I havent ever done it ( because I dont have a laptop myself) thank you.

If he has a genuine copy of Windows 98 (the one with the holograms), then he can just boot off the CD. Just make sure to go into the BIOS and set the laptop to boot from the CD. That should work. If you don't have the genuine version, then you can make a bootable CD. I think Nero and Easy CD Creator both have options to create those CDs. Hope this helps.

You could also copy a boot disk to the HD to make it boot the same as the win98se bootdisk. That way you could have the cdrom in and also have a "bootdisk"

thats what i would do, sys the harddrive and then add cdrom drivers to it... then reboot with the cdrom drive and boot off of the harddrive.

btw, some original win98 CD from MS are not bootable, some are...
